Cancer survivor Nafisa Ali Sodhi, whose niece had tested positive for Coronavirus in Bengaluru, is stuck in Goa without ration and medicines; read her complete ordeal below
The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has only added to actress Nafisa Ali Sodhi’s plight. It was in the year 2018 that she revealed being diagnosed with Stage 3 of cancer and has been undergoing treatments ever since then. At present, Nafisa Ali is stuck in Goa due to the lockdown and is deprived of basic ration and medicines. Adding to her agony, it turned out that her niece was tested positive for COVID-19 in Bengaluru. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, the 63-year-old has opened up on her ordeal.
“The groceries shops are shut for the last six days. I’m a cancer survivor; I need to eat proper food. I’ve been eating just dry ration for the past many days — there are no vegetable, no fruits. We’re so cut off. I’m in Morjim and people here are having a terrible time. It’s only in Panjim that the situation is fine. My heart goes out to everyone,” said Nafisa. Further, she revealed how her family had planned only a 10-day-trip; however, it had to be stretched due to the lockdown.
“All my medicines are finishing. The courier services are not working so I can’t have them delivered from elsewhere. So what option so I have now? I’m not taking any medicines, which is not good for my health,” she added.
Opening up on her Coronavirus-positive niece, Nafisa revealed that it was after she came back from Switzerland to Bangalore. Upon being tested, the result was positive and, fortunately, she has now recovered. “The recovery rate is very good but people have to get the treatment, and for that, they need to be tested. It’s very important and that’s how we can beat this,” concludes Nafisa.
